Frizzell, David - Music, Songs, and Lyrics

Frizzell... A name that is synonymous with country music royalty. David as a teenager, left home to join his legendary brother 'Lefty' Frizzell on the road touring with many great names in country music. Before his 18th birthday, David was cutting country and rockabilly for Columbia Records until it was interrupted with a four year hitch in the military. After his discharge he was once again signed with Columbia Records.

The road David was destined to travel was not always easy, having to follow in the shadow of such a famous brother, however David broke out and started creating his own identity as an artist in years to come. He recorded the first country version of 'L.A. International Airport' and 'I Just Can't Help Believing' and developed a reputation as a Las Vegas Headliner at the Golden Nugget. David Frizzell founded the highly successful duet partnership of 'FRIZZELL & WEST' that included the very talented Shelly West, daughter of another famous name in country music, Dottie West. After recording the song "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma" and having every major label turn them down, producer Snuff Garrett played the song for Clint Eastwood.

At that point, upon Eastwood's insistence to add the song to his upcoming movie soundtrack 'Any Which Way You Can', Little KDEN radio in Tulare, California first reported playing it as an album track, prompting the song�s release as a single. In short order the song that nobody wanted was a smash hit. FRIZZELL AND WEST went on to enjoy success as one of the hottest duet acts on the road, winning awards and garnishing more hit records along with selling out major arenas worldwide.

After the partnership ended, David went on with his solo career and enjoyed further success with the chart topping number # 1 smash hit, 'I'm Gonna Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home' which is still a classic standard today and was just recently featured on CMT�s '40 Greatest Drinking Songs in Country Music' (2003).

David has been bestowed almost every coveted award in country music, winning multiple CMA�s, ACM's, Billboard and Music City News Awards, along with being nominated for three Grammy Awards for his contributions to country music as part of a popular duet and as a solo artist.

Currently, David is working on a new project that he hopes to have released during the summer of 2004. On this project is a new single being released to radio on May 14th titled 'It Takes Me All Night Long' featuring a special appearance by his dear friend, Jimmy Fortune (Statler Brothers) singing harmonies. David is also collaborating with former New Grass Revival member John Cowan on the song 'Reckless Wind' which blends the soulful tenor styling to his smooth rich baritone vocals. David will also be working with Grammy Award winning producer, Ron Dante on a few tracks for the upcoming project that will be released on Nashville America Records.
