Of the solemn night,

Gladly the herdsmen
Sought the Holy Son,

Christ, the sinless one,

Now through our darkness
Lo, Thy star appears.
Kings and prophets
long have named Thee,
Priests and martyrs
all proclaimed Thee.
Savior of mankind.
