Mrs. Claus and I went to the stables bright and early to deliver all the food she had made. She was so delighted at the way the stables were cleaned, painted and decorated that she hugged everyone she saw.
The Elves had asked could we close the workshop. Close the workshop? 3 days before our big trip? 3 days Before Christmas Eve? The first thing I thought was these elves have gone mad!! Once I went through all the requests for toys, our supplies and the elves promised to each elf working a shift and a half I agreed. My eye sure was twitching but I agreed.
Everyone showed up at the stables and was amazed at how nice it was. After we chatted a while ChristmasCaroles stood up and called all the reindeer to go up front. She told the reindeer that the onions and pepper was a prank as was the quarantine of the village and the gathering place just to show them the elves could pull pranks too. The quarantine of the stables was so they could clean out, scrub, paint and decorate it. She then called each reindeer's name and asked him or her to "go up on stage". As they were each presented with a brand new blanket with their name on it and new bowls. Wreath explained that the elves got awards and special gifts and Mrs. Clause and I are presented with a gift each year, but the reindeer don't get anything. She told them it was to honor all their hard work and as a truce to end the practical jokes. The reindeer all kneeled and bowed their heads in acknowledgement. The elves, Mrs. Claus and I all stood and clapped in a standing ovation to the reindeer. I looked at Mrs. Claus and she was crying. I believe my eyes were a little misty too.
