December 2

HO! HO! HO! Things have gone well today! Mrs. Claus went ahead and let me sleep in a little this morning and surprised me with a wonderful breakfast! Mrs. Claus made me some pumpkin pancakes, eggs and crispy bacon! It was so good! I was able to enjoy breakfast as I checked out the weather for the trip tonight. So far it seems that there will be smooth flying! After I lounged around for a while I called Elf Zippy for a reindeer status report. I asked her, “How the two new reindeer are looking today and if it was ok to proceed with them as scheduled?” Zippy told me that everything was good to go and the reindeer look great! “Fantastic! It should be a great flight then!”

I made my way down to the workshop and made some of my own final preparations with Elf Jingles. “Ok Jingles, we have the flight pattern correct?” “check!” said Jingles, “We have the quick stops to go to?” “Check!” said Jingles “And we have the current weather forecast?”, “Check Santa!” Good then, everything is a go for tonight’s flight. I expect everyone to be out there for the first lift off. “I will tell every elf Santa!” Jingles said and in a *poof* he was gone.

With everything in place I knew I could be at ease for the rest of the day. I decided to give my old friend Frosty the Snowman a call and check on him and his family. As I place the call I know it’s Frosty answering when I hear “Happy Birthday!” HO! HO! HO! some things just never change. We must have talked on the phone for an hour or so before I realized I needed to run into town and pick up some snacks for the flight. I made my way down to one of the bakeries and went inside. Behind the counter stood Elf Grey and Elf Erty. These two have the oldest bakery in Christmas town. (HO! HO! HO! They are about the same age as Christmas town) and they make some of the best goodies. I got my goodies and look at the time! Ho! Ho! Ho! I have got to get a move on! It’s almost time for the flight. I raced back to the main house and had dinner and then it was up to my room to change into my suit and down to the runway for take-off.

I made my way down to the runway and there the sled was, already harnessed in were the reindeers Jetstream and Pipeline. Surrounding the runway were all the elves, reindeer, Frosty and his family came out and of course Mrs. Claus. Mrs. Claus walked up to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek and told me to have a good flight and she would wait up for my return. I heard Elf Zippy in the background saying “I know you two will be great, I am proud of you two” to Jetstream and Pipeline. It was time, the air was cold and brisk, the sky was clear and brightly lit by the moon. I got in my sleigh and the reins in my hand. I turned to everyone and said “Well, here we…” but was interrupted by Jingles saying “Santa, Santa, Wait!” Jingles ran up to the sleigh and I said “Now Jingles I have to be going, what is the matter?” Jingles said “The weather Santa, huff, huff, storm, huff, huff.” HO! HO! HO! Jingles, I am sure the boys can handle a little storm. I turned back to the crowd and said “Off we go!” and with a flick of the wrist we were airborn.

I will tell you all about the flight tomorrow my darlings! Sleep tight and sweet dreams.
