December 19

Well, well well….it is a glorious day, yes sir it was. This morning I woke feeling better than ever. The ground was covered in fresh new snow, the air was cold… cold but felt good. I went on a nice little walk to shake off the sleep and get the eyes to open up some. I meandered around for about a mile, when I turned back to look at Christmas Town it was but a glimmer in the distance but even from a mile away you could still see it twinkling like a star in the shadow of night, you could also hear the in the distance the faint sound of Christmas carols being sung. I had to pause for a moment and think about life and all it’s treasures. I spend all year watching the children of the world and for the most part their parents too. I watch children from every metropolis, city, town, village and place on earth that there is a home. A lot of children in the letters I have received ask me “ Santa, why do you give people you don’t even know presents year after year?” This is my response:
I give to the people of the world more than just a present. I give the gift of giving, I give the of hope and magic. I try to show that using your heart to better yourself and the world makes the lives of every person you encounter better. It’s called pass the good. You do good things for someone, the in return do good for someone and so on. Eventually the good spreads and spreads. I do what I do because I like making people happy. If I know I have brightened the day of a young boy and girl, even for 1 day then I have done what I had set out to do. I hope that when I do something for someone that the love and care that goes into that act gets passed along. I had some points in my existence that made me question whether or not what I was doing year after year even mattered. All I had to do was return home and look at my mailbag and now with technology my email too. There I had my answer sitting there in all those letters asking me for gifts, love, peace, protection for loved ones at war. I knew then and know now more than ever that what I do is needed by the world and its children, not just the little ones, but all the children of the world.
After my thoughts I smiled and knew that as we approached another year, it was more than another year of gifts but another year of hopes, dreams, fears and wishes. I started my wander back to Christmas Town I didn’t think about anything, I didn’t worry about anything, I just walked and in that walk I felt the love of the world embrace me and as I was embraced I knew, just knew that I was wear I belonged and I was doing what I was meant to do.
I finally made it back to Town and went to my office and engulfed myself in the letters that were there, smiling from ear to ear with each letter and each response. Yes, I was where I belonged. SO I will say good night my darling’s. You have the sweetest of dreams my darlings and soon I promise, I will be there to see you!
