December 15

There is a saying 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks'. That may or may not be true. One thing I do know is an old dog can certainly learn new things! Did you know porcupines floated in the water? I would have thought all those quills would make the porcupine sink, but it doesn’t! Maybe it just puffs up real big and jumps in for a swim! But then again, as big as I am, I float like a boat (ho!ho!ho!)

What a day this was! Meetings all morning. More toys painted, boxed and wrapped in the afternoon. Then the big sing-a-long followed by various songs from many countries. Not all countries have Christmas songs of their own yet. Nissemor sang a very lively version of Julenissen kommer i kveld, which in Norway means "Santa Claus is coming to town". Without a doubt, I will be coming to town! Every town around the world, where children both young and old believe in me, will hear some hooves on their rooftops in a few short days!

Tomorrow I will travel a bit around the world. I know, I know. To early to deliver presents. But safety is always a concern and after some of the episodes in the past, I have added checking for potential avalanches to my checklist. With the downward force of the snow, the air currents can change fast and become a problem for the reindeer in an air pocket.

It feels very weird to suddenly drop a few feet in the air! Many years ago, before I started strapping the bags to the sleigh, we hit an air pocket sending three of the bags tumbling towards the mountaintops. Fortunately, Blitzen caught sight of them and yelled to Rudolph to make a quick turn. As quick as you can blink both eyes and say 'Ho! Ho! Ho!' we made a U turn and dove directly under the falling bags.

Two of the three landed directly in the back of the sled. The third bounced off my head before joining the others. Afterwards, except for a small knot on my noggin, everything went as smooth as the polar ice!

Did you know that the human brain cell can hold 5 times more information that the Encyclopedia Brittanica!

Time to tuck my tootsies under the covers. Sleep tight tonight everyone.
