We had visitors today. They were some Eskimos from Russia. Because the elves are working so hard and slightly ahead of schedule, I gave a half day off to visit with our new friends. The Eskimos taught the elves how to make igloos. Now there are several around the town circle. The elves know how to make the blocks but never seem to be able to “glue” them together. Even though it’s cold here sometimes the roofs fall in. At least the elfrin have some nice “forts” to play in. The trick is to use a mixture of gelatin and water. The gelatin helps the water stick between the ice blocks for when it gets slightly warm. That way the blocks don’t slip. Since Mrs. Claus used all the gelatin the elves used shaved ice peppermint and licorice syrups. If it doesn’t help hold the blocks together it will smell nice. I can’t remember the last time Town Circle smelled so good.
